ART COMPETITIONS

A popular way of finding suitable art for an area is to organise an art competition. When a competition is well organised it usually produces several high-quality art suggestions and increases the visibility of an area even before the realisation of the artwork.

Art competitions

A popular way of finding suitable art for an area is to organise an art competition. When a competition is well organised it usually produces several high-quality art suggestions and increases the visibility of an area even before the realisation of the artwork. When organising competitions, we follow national recommendations and plan the competition programme according to the length of each project. We also execute the competition from planning the programme and assembling a jury all the way to the selection of the artist.

When is it advisable to acquire art through a competition?

Organising a public competition requires the possibility to commit to the realisation of the artwork. Therefore, it is sensible to carefully go through the framework of the project before initiating a competition. Competitions can be roughly divided into four types:

    •    General competition: international or national
    •    Restricted competition
    •    Invitation competition
    •    Two-phased competition

The different types of competitions cannot be listed in any order of superiority because the most suitable way is always defined by the project. We will be happy to tell you more about this as well as other ways to acquire public art.
